Since there is little talk about Virtual Pro Wrestling.Did anyone forget about All Japan King's Soul or about the Toukon Retsuden series.I would say King's Soul has better graphics than Toukon Retsuden 3.I was gonna play 2 but my emulator won't let my controls work.I only seen the intro of Toukon 2 and the graphics in the intro are pretty sweet. Also in Toukon series, in the 3rd 1 Manabu eats his shirt in the intro. The series just lack graphics really. In King's Soul its just slow.I hit tons of moves and Kobashi just ends up losing.But.......I still win cuz i get the hang of it. _________________ Puroresu is Power

Unfortunately, out of those games I've only played the last incarnation of Toukon Retsuden and i was less than impressed. So I can add very little to this convo. _________________ My new blog! - Read it, love it...or not

Now see, if you had joined even as recently as two months ago, you'd find out that I'm the biggest VPW2 (and sometimes 1) fan/mark/smark/whatever on the board (and probably in the entire US of A). HOWEVER, when Cube switched to the new board, I publicly vowed to keep my marking of VPW2 to a bare minimum (maybe one small reference every couple of weeks, TOPS) so I can focus on contributing ideas to the project.
And just for the record:
despite the lacks of No Mercy clothing, female presence, and various WWE gimmicks, VPW2 remains my top-favorite N64 game of all time to play over and over (and once I dig out my N64, I think I'll play some...then I'll play my second-most fave N64 game, Perfect Dark...)
Legends of Wrestling 2 (NOT 3) on the PS2 is currently my favorite PS2 wrestler until I can get my hands on Square-Enix's ASPW3 or Spike's KOC2, in case you're interested.
You can ask me ANYTHING about VPW2 and I can probably answer it for you (quicker and more helpful than Haddes911 or BioHazardAndTsukino on the GameFAQs boards, anyways). _________________

There is no way you like VPW2 more than me.
-Did you actually mod your cart, sacrificing another game for your love of VPW2?
-Did you play it more than an hour this week?
VPW2 is the greatest. Haha
I'm just glad there are people who recognize the most perfect wrestling game ever. I just can't figure out why there hasn't been one that ever came close?
I didn't like the Toukon Retsudon series... it didn't move very good, though the graphics were awesome. And it had Dr Wagner . _________________ Justice |

I hacked off the tabs that block it from playing on an American N64, and now it plays fine without a converter or GS. I miss having the "Instant Special" Joker Command on, though. _________________

Dude, that mod has to be the easiest open-cart surgery *ever*. I did mine in with a jacknife and ten minutes of free time one afternoon, after my fucking bastard Game Genie caused an error that wiped some of my save files.
If only the current generation of systems were so easy to jimmy. _________________

No one said it was hard...
But you didn't say you played it this week.
It's not the individual displays of ultimate VPW2 mark-ism, but the sum of it's parts.
Hacks have become too complicated nowadays, I think Nintendo believed it to be ridiculous that they couldn't sell their carts in different countries. So they made the hacks cheap and easy to get around.
I remember chiseling my old SNES so I could play Dragonball on it long ago. And the gameboy doesn't even give a crap.
I do realize that this makes it obvious that I really don't get out much.... _________________ Justice |

"-Did you actually mod your cart, sacrificing another game for your love of VPW2?"
If 'sacrifice' isn't intended to imply some manner of 'difficulty' in modding, then enlighten us as to what the fuck you're talking about here, yeah? I'm confused by the random nature of where this pissing contest is going. _________________

haha, shit guys.. CHILL OUT.
And I'd play VPW2 if I didn't have KOCII around right now. _________________ "They say that I get paid for my big Responsibility, but you know... that is just a lame excuse for my egocentricity. Actually, I just need to know if the implication is that he seriously carved up another cartridge to use as a housing for the VPW 2 board.
Because that's just funny.

Just having a bit of fun...
The cart mod for N64 import games was really easy. All you had to do was get that silly screw bit that would remove those 'special' screws from the abck of the nintendo 64 carts.
US had a different slot on the back than the Japnese carts. The Japanese spec carts wouldn't fit in the N64 properly.
All you had to do was Unscrew the backs off the carts and switch them. And that was it.
Otherwise, people were buying mod kits for their N64 or using a gameshark addon. I never bought a gameshark kit, and I hated the adapter thing that you could get from inport shops. Ah... DOOM 64 you shall enjoy your life in Japan one day...
Also... I think we're all just having a little fun here over a topic that is just ridiculous.
VPW2 ROCKS! And that's all that needs to be said.
Solidarity brothers!
Thankfully Dave is a tenacious bastard, and there may be the day when importing is just a waste since we have our own North American wrestling game that will satisfy my every wrestling need. _________________ Justice |

Agreed, agreed. Though those little tabs in the back of the cart could be hacked off cleanly with any blade sharp enough through the plastic, with absolutely zero damage to the chip. _________________

Yeah Mel you could do that... but didn't that sorta make your cart look all F'd up? If you did the swap hack, then you would have the US English warnings and stuff on the back of the cart. And no teeth marks in your cart.

Oh, no. I have the steady wrist and slashing technique of a serial killer. Just ask Dave, who borrowed my friggin' copy of VPW2 and held it hostage for the better part of a year.
He didn't mind the teethmarks. _________________

I lent mine out once... and only once.

I treat that cart better than Golum and that damned ring.

WTF can you use to hack through a cart like that? I'm only allowed to use butter knifes here in the asylum... _________________ "They say that I get paid for my big Responsibility, but you know... that is just a lame excuse for my egocentricity.
